Manchester United Battle Celta Vigo, Ajax Face Lyon in Europa League Semi-Finals

English Premier League side Manchester United will face Spanish side Celta Vigo while Dutch side Ajax will battle French side Lyon in the other semi-finals tie of the Europa League.

Jose Mourinho's men got to the semifinals by beating Anderlecht by 3-2 on aggregate in the second half of extra-time thanks to a winning goal from 19-year-old striker Marcus Rashford on Thursday night.

Celta Vigo defeated RC Genk after getting a 1-1 draw in the second leg in Belgium which thereby made them went through by 4-3 on aggregate. The La Liga side has never won a major European competition in the club history.

Ajax, who eliminated Schalke on 4-3 aggregate to reach the semi-finals, are experienced European campaigners. They have won the Champions League/European Cup four times in time past and the Europa League/Uefa Cup once in the 1992 final when they defeated Torino.

The first legs of those ties will take place on 4 May while the second leg will be played on 11 May.

The Europa League final will take place in Stockholm, Sweden on 24 May.

Manchester United, who will face Celta Vigo in a competitive game for the first time ever, have won the European Cup three times but have never triumphed in the continent's secondary club competition. The club manager Jose Mourinho won the competition with Porto in 2003.

Only two matches, the away and home game, separate the Red Devils from the competition final in Sweden.

This might be the season United will rewrite that history. Winning the trophy will guarantee them an automatic spot in the Champions League next season.
