Manchester United to sign Antoine Griezmann after reaching financial agreement

French player and Atletico Madrid forward -Antoine Griezmann -have been said to be the first big transfer of the summer for Manchester United who have agreed a deal with the Spanish club for the 26 years super star.

United's have not hide their interest in bringing Griezmann to Old Trafford. There hasn’t been a day without someone connected to Atletico Madrid or Griezmann himself commenting on a potential switch to Manchester.

The continuous discussion on Griezmann move has made United fans to wonder where the 26-year-old might fit in the squad, should executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward manage to get a deal over the line as he has with others over the last year.

The French player is a versatile attacker, he can play anywhere across the front four positions, off left or right, through the middle or behind the central striker.

He has taken up the majority of those positions with is current club Atletico Madrid. He starts front and centre for the team and has the freedom to roam wherever he pleases.

Griezmann is a perfect direct replacement for the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic which crushing knee injury which will denied him action for 12 months means playing for United again is highly unlikely.

United boss, Jose Mourinho, has seen that his team looked more powerful going forward without Ibrahimovic, freeing up the running of Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial, who could also start as the main striker, as he did in Sunday's win at Burnley, with Griezmann wider.

Griezmann would probably be expected to lead the attacking line with Rashford playing him from the left and with the ability to interchange. Henrikh Mkhitaryan alongside Martial and Lingard can equally run beyond the front man.

Already United Fans sing that Mourinho is 'playing the way that United should be playing but there is far more to come.

These means signing of Griezmann might finally propel the Red Devils into the same realm as Europe's elite and can take on any team in Europe.

Also not forgetting Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba in the midfield positions, and also Juan Mata's goals and creativity are another fine alternative choice in the forward positions for United when the need arise.

Griezmann is a hard work player, which has further improved under Simeone following his move from Real Sociedad.

He is a clinical finisher with a knack of arriving just at the right time; he has Ibrahimovic’s goal scoring ability but with better pace and the ability to give so much more in deeper positions. Landing he can also help Marcus Rashford, who should be a key component of a new-look United squad.

Griezmann has a release clause of €100m (around £84million), but now former FIFA accredited agent Vincent Rodriguez claims a deal for his transfer has been agreed between United and the clubs ahead of the summer transfer window which will open on July 1.

Although, the French man has said that he doesn’t want to leave Atletico, Rodriguez claims a deal is imminent.



“A financial agreement between Atlético Madrid and Manchester United regarding the signing of Griezmann has been met,” Rodriguez wrote on Twitter.
