Despite beating Celta Vigo, Manchester United are officially the most WASTEFUL side in the Europa League

Jose Mourinho wasn't the happiest of bunnies despite Manchester United's victory over Celta Vigo on Thursday, and now we know why.

The United boss lamented his side's wastefulness in Spain, claiming that they should have had more to show for their evening than just Marcus Rashford's wonderful free-kick - which earned the teenager some fanciful comparisons to a certain David Beckham.

Mourinho claimed that his side should have "had two by half-time" instead of going in goalless at the break, and a key stat backs up his claim.

Because despite recording their crucial win to take back to Old Trafford, United also became the most wasteful side in this season's Europa League in Vigo

According to stats gurus WhoScored, by half-time United had missed 17 clear-cut chances in this season's tournament, and with Jesse Lingard making it 18 when he smashed wide in the second half.

And with Mourinho's frustration clear to see, the United boss must be left wondering just what would be possible if his team took their chances both in this competition and in the Premier League

A place in the Europa League final later this month could already be secured, while a top four finish would surely also be possible
