A former University of Pittsburgh soccer player killed her daddy — because of the “Mummy,” according to a reports.
Christina Nicassio stabbed her 69-year-old father Dr. Anthony Nicassio to death because she said she was instructed to do so by the film, “The Mummy Returns,” WTAE reported.
Nicassio, 27, plunged the knife into her father twice –- leaving it lodged in his body — in Plum Borough around 3:10 a.m. on Saturday at the 900 block of Capri Court, as he attempted to grab the weapon from her, officials said.
The woman was going through a bad breakup from her former fiance and began speaking irrationally, which prompted her parents to try and take her to the hospital, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
She refused their help, and grabbed the knife instead, police said.
While in custody, she told cops she took her dad’s life because, “In a movie, someone who can’t lose someone else, they stab their father,” the site reported, citing the criminal complaint.
When asked to clarify, she said it was the 2001 horror flick, which starred Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, according to officials.
“I don’t know why, I thought he had to die,” she told cops, according to an affidavit cited by the Post-Gazette.
Nicassio, who was a forward on the Panthers from 2007-2009, worked as head coach and personal trainer at the Allegheny Force Football Club, where she coached a team of 16-year-old girls, WPXI reported.
Her father was a doctor at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center “who was a dedicated and skilled physician…who devoted his life to compassionate care of his patients,” read a statement from the hospital given to WPXI.
She was charged with homicide and is due back in court on May 17, WPXI reported.
