Fire outbreak kills mother & 3 children in Surulere

Tragedy struck early Thursday morning as fire gutted a set of shops in Surulere area, killing a mother, three children and destroyed millions of naira worth of properties. The father sustained degrees of injuries.
The tragic incident occurred at about 2:38 am at B23 Ogunleye Street off Adekunle Kuye Street, Kilo Bus Stop Surulere. They victims were caught in the fire while sleeping in one of the shops affected by the fire.

The mother was identified as Hope, and the three children: Female- Chukwuka, 9, Male- Nonso 7, and Male- Ugochukwu,6. While the father was identified as Ignacious. The family was said to have been residing in one of the shops used for laundry services.

The General Manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Mr Tiamiyu Adesina, confirmed that the agency’s emergency response team received a distress call via the emergency number and swung into action.

The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be known.
