Homeless man admits trying to kill dad whose wife and teen son were left dead in triple stabbing

A homeless man has admitted trying to kill a dad whose wife and 13-year-old son were left dead in a triple stabbing.

Aaron Barley, 23, pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of Peter Wilkinson, 47, but faces a murder trial after not entering pleas on charges of killing his son Pierce and wife Tracey.
Peter's daughter Lydia and dad Stephen were in Birmingham Crown Court for the 15 minute hearing today.

Barley, who was remanded in custody last month, appeared wearing a maroon T-shirt and bright green prison jumpsuit tied at his waist.

A trial date was set by His Honour Judge Melbourne Inman QC for October 3 at Birmingham Crown Court.

Tracey Wilkinson, 50, died of stab injuries in the family's £650,000 gated home in Stourbridge, West Midlands.

While Pierce was pronounced dead after being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Peter spent six days in intensive care after undergoing life-saving surgery.

He suffered six deep stab wounds, lacerations to his face and nerve damage, and required 97 stitches.

Barley, of no fixed address, was arrested by West Midlands Police on the day of the alleged murders.

He had been looked after by the family after Tracey met him through charity work.
