Kano Assembly clamps down on plan to probe Emir Sanusi

Emir of Kano.
The Kano State House of Assembly on Monday dropped its earlier plan to probe the Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II, on an eight-count, comprising financial impropriety, among others. It was discovered that, the House halted the probe, following a letter of appeal dispatched to the State Assembly by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Speaker of the State Assembly, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, read the letter to members on the floor of the house.

Ganduje’s letter to the State Assembly emphasised that the Emir had personally apologised for his mistakes during a reconciliation forum, organised by Northern Governors’ forum in Kaduna, hence the reason for the move.

After extensive deliberation on the letter, the State Assembly, unanimously decided to drop the investigation.

It would be recalled that the State Assembly had earlier constituted an eight-man committee to probe an eight-count, comprising financial impropriety, among others against the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II.
