Salary crisis hits Nigerian embassy in Washington

Junior staffs working at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC have not been paid their salaries; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it but denied the reports that the Embassy was shut down by workers over the non-payment of their salaries.Mr. Clement Aduku, who is the spokesperson of the foreign affairs ministry, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday confirmed that some junior workers were being owed salaries, but the embassy was not shut down as reported.

The statement read:

“The Ministry wishes to state that contrary to reports of shutdown, the embassy is functioning properly and discharging its statutory diplomatic and consular responsibilities.”

”The Ministry of Foreign Affairs therefore wishes to assure the general public that the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington DC, USA, is open for day to day operational activities and can be accessed with ease for all official matters.”
