Jet Airways has said an Indian woman gave birth to a baby boy midair aboard a commercial flight 9W 569 at 2.55 am on Monday.
Between Damman in Saudi Arabia and Kochi in the southern India state of Kerala, the unknown woman in her 20s went into premature labor on Sunday’s Jet airway.
Jet Airways said in a statement “The guest delivered a baby boy at 35,000 feet,” adding that the delivery was helped by a paramedic on board and airline
The Boeing 737 flight, which had 162 passengers on board, diverted with the woman and her baby to Mumbai’s hospital near the airport
On Monday an official from Mumbai’s Holy Spirit hospital told AFP that baby and the mother was doing well
The woman was believed to have been around 32 weeks pregnant when she gave birth.
The born baby is given free travel for all his life because it was the first time a baby had been delivered on one his flight, Jet Airways said
