Manchester United gets transfer updates on Ronaldo, Morata from Real Madrid

Real Madrid's president Florentino Perez claims that Manchester United have not made a bid for their forward Alvaro Morata.

It is understood that Jose Mourinho has persuaded Morata to join United to replace their veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and sources close to Morata express hope that the deal will pull through.

Nonetheless, Perez explained that Real were waiting to receive an offer for Morata, 24, and claimed they had not received any offer for Cristiano Ronaldo who is considering returning to his former club, Manchester United, where he was sold to Real Madrid for 80 million euros, a world transfer record as at 2009.

"No one has sent us any offers," Perez said at his inauguration on Monday evening. "Not for Cristiano, Morata or James Rodriguez. We want to keep the same squad, including James."

It is obvious that the United side have no interest in James Rodriguez despite insinuations by the Spanish media constantly linking him with the club.

A Ronaldo’s reunion is unlikely to hold as Mourinho has his eyes fixed on other players he would like to sign such as defensive midfielder from Chelsea, Nemanja Matic, Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko and Tottenham's Eric Dier.

Ronaldo’s Intention of leaving Madrid is seen as a threat, so the Real Madrid side would be helping him in his tax evasion case against Spanish prosecutors.

The club's president, Perez’s view on the matter came as a surprise when he described Ronaldo as more powerful than them
"Cristiano Ronaldo is more powerful than all of us," Perez told Onda Cero.

 "All I can say is that Cristiano Ronaldo has a contract with Madrid. I have not spoken to Ronaldo, I have just heard what has been in the newspapers.

"The last time I spoke to Ronaldo was after the Cardiff match [the Champions League final] and we spoke about next season."

 "Cristiano is a good guy as a professional and as a person. This is very strange and in the next few days I’ll talk to him.

"I must defend him at all costs, both as a player and as a person. What I will say is that everyone must fulfil their tax obligations. I have no doubt that Cristiano will be able to defend himself.

"What they have told me is that he has the same financial arrangements as he had in England, where he had no problems." Perez added
