Wayne Rooney could stay at Manchester United but he must adjust to his reduced role, says Ryan Giggs

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney could remain at the club if he can make peace with his new role, according to Ryan Giggs.
Rooney saw his game time greatly reduced under manager Jose Mourinho and is mulling over 'lots of offers' to seek regular first-team football elsewhere this summer.

It was a season which saw Rooney usurp Sir Bobby Charlton to become United's record goalscorer when he netted his 250th back in January.

However, it was a hugely frustrating campaign which yielded just five goals and 15 Premier League starts, prompting interest from his former club Everton and the Chinese Super League.
But Rooney may well stay at Old Trafford if he follows in Giggs' footsteps and accepts he still has a role to play — even if it is a lesser one than he is accustomed to.
'Wayne is a proven goalscorer, give him a chance Wayne will score,' Giggs told Sky Sports News.
'It is whether he can put up with not being first choice or whether he can develop his game which I had to around the same age, not being certain to play every game, but playing 25-30 games and contributing.

'If Wayne can do that then I don't see why he can't still be at the club.'
Mourinho is already looking to bolster his attacking options in order to mount a serious title challenge next season.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic heading for the exit door at Old Trafford, the Portuguese has earmarked Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata as the man to lead the line next season — which would see Rooney's reduced role cemented.
