Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule who was a Nigerian politician, acclaimed orator, diplomat and Nigeria’s former Permanent Representative to the United Nations is dead, his death was made known by Sani Adamu, the head of the family.
He died on Monday in the early hours in an Egyptian hospital. After Maitama fell ill, he was receiving treatment from the hospital at Mallam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano for the past two weeks before he was taken to Cairo over the weekend because his sickness became worse and died there on Monday.

 An announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Information Mallam Muhammad Garba, on Tuesday, he said that the , the Kano State Government has declared Tuesday a work free day in order to mourn the Danmasini Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule.
