The Inspector General of Police,Ibrahim Idris, on the issue of increased kidnapping along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway , as a matter of great concern travelled from Abuja to Kano State by road making stops at some notorious kidnapping hot spots along the way.

The police boss stopped at Suleja, Zuba, Jere, Rijana and Alheri Camp, of the Joint Task Force. The places, excluding the Alheri Camp, are hot beds for kidnappers and armed robbers along the highway.

At Rijana village, the IG held a town hall meeting with the community, urging them to cooperate with the security agencies ridding the town of suspected criminals in their midst.

“We are assuring you of our sustained surveillance and tightening up the security of your areas, but we need all the necessary support from the public. These criminals are in your midst, you know them, as such you should cooperate well with us to get rid of these bad eggs,” he said.

He promised the people of Rijana community that, during his tenure as the police boss he would help establish a regular and Mobile Police barracks in the area, stressing that peace must return to the communities.

At Suleja, Idris paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Suleja, urging him to continue supporting security agencies in wiping away kidnapping and armed robbery. He earlier condoled the Emir over the death of the Chief Imam of Suleja.
