Police arrests mother and daughter for throwing new born baby in waste bin

Qamariya Ismail and her mother, Hassana Sabiu  have been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command for allegedly throwing a newborn baby girl into the waste bin.
CP Usman Abdullahi, the State Commissioner of Police, who disclosed this, said the mother and her daughter secretly threw the baby, whose lifeless body was later in a waste bin at Madugu House along Yahaya Madaki way, Katsina state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gambo Isah who spoke on behalf of the CP, said the duo’s secret got leaked by neighbours, who traced the baby to the daughter they knew was pregnant and was later arrested.

He said after thorough interrogation, Qamariya confessed that her mother assisted that she throw her baby inside the garbage bin.

According to the Police, “on July 31 at about 4p.m., a dead female new born baby was found inside a wastebin at Madugu House along Yahaya Madaki way, Katsina state.

"Investigation was later carried out and the abandoned dead baby was however, traced to one Qamariya Ismail ‘f’ aged 25yrs old of Sabuwar Kasuwa quarters, Katsina whom her neighbours knew was having illicit pregnancy. 

He said: “The suspect confessed that her mother, one Hassana Sabiu ‘f’ aged 45yrs of the same address, helped her threw the baby inside the said Garbage-Can. Investigation into the case is still ongoing.”
