The police in Anambra State have arrested 10 handbag snatchers in different motor parks in the State.
Punch Metro gathered that the thieves had terrorised Ogidi, Nnewi, Onitsha and Ihiala residents over time.The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the arrest said the command would soon parade them.
He said the suspects who operated on motorcycles, used locally made guns.
He said,”Between last week and now over 10 handbag snatching suspects on motorcycles were arrested at Ogidi, Nnewi, ihiala and Onitsha axis and various exhibits such as handsets, plasma TV, motorcycles, and fabricated guns were recovered from them.
He said within the period under review a syndicate who specialised in robbing filling stations had also been arrested with AK 47 rifles.
He also said “Due to the proactive strategies deployed by the command under the watch of the Commissioner of Police, Garba Baba Umar, criminal activities in the state had drastically reduced.
