Cristiano Ronaldo breaks European record in international football

Cristiano Ronaldo became the most prolific European scorer in international football history on Wednesday when he hit goal No 85 of a stellar Portugal career.

Five days after bagging a stunning hat-trick in Portugal's 3-3 draw with Spain, Ronaldo stooped to head his country into an early lead against Morocco in World Cup Group B.

The goal saw Ronaldo move ahead of Hungary legend Ferenc Puskas into second place on the worldwide list of record marksman.

And 33-year-old Ronaldo still has some way to go to eclipse Ali Daei, who netted 109 times in 149 international appearances for Iran between 1993 and 2006.
