Man shoots Cop barricades himself with kids

A man suspected of battering his girlfriend shot an Orlando police officer who responded to a domestic violence call and then barricaded himself with four young children, according to reports.

The woman left the apartment near the Universal Orlando theme park late Sunday and alerted authorities to the assault, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said.

The children being held in the standoff are 1, 7, 10 and 12 years old. Mina said it was unclear whether all the children are the suspect’s.
