Adetayo Adeola steals the show as Command Day Secondary School Oshodi graduates 372 students in thrilling send forth
If the Valedictory Service was superb, the bar for the
Speech and Prize giving day was raised as the Danjuma Hall was filled to its
bream with dignitaries; among who were the Chief Host Col YZ Momoh, the Special Guest of Honour The General
Officer Commanding 81 Division Maj Gen EO Udoh represented by Brig Gen AO
Quadri, Guest of Honour Corps Commander Education represented by Col CC Ogbu,
Chairman of the Occasion Mr Silas Asamideri Regional Head Lagos/South-West
First Guarantee Pension Ltd, Guest Speaker Mr Muyiwa Ojediran Director Resource
Worth Services Ltd and many important personalities.
The Ceremony which kicked off with the National and School
Anthem which was Orchestrated by the School Band and followed swiftly by the
Opening Prayer and the Introduction of Guests both taken by the Christian
Association and the Master of ceremony respectively.
The Commandant of CDSS Oshodi, LT Col MA Bukar gave an
inspirational welcome address to the guest. He welcomed the top military
personnel, Special Guest of Honour, graduating student, staffs, parents,
members of the press amongst others. He made his delight known to the audience
and appreciated their effort in honoring the invitation.
He said “I am delighted and humble to welcome our Special
Guest of Honour and other important dignitaries to Command Day Secondary School
Oshodi. We are indeed grateful that you have taken time out from your busy schedule
to grace this occasion.”
The graduation speech which underscores the impact of the
educational attributes entrenched in the students was echoed to the students
and urged them to do great exploit.
He opined “It is on this premise that I urge all graduating
students to be good ambassadors of CDSS Oshodi, to reflect the knowledge they
acquired by exhibiting good character to be successful.”
The Nigerian Culture and entertainment in general was fully
appreciated by the school as the students gave rounds of terrific performances
ranging from the likes of Zulu, Efik and Koroso dances, the CDSS Oshodi steel
band, Fashion Parades and lots more
The Guest Speaker Mr. Muyiwa Ojediran who was one of the
Alumni of the school delivered the lecture to the outgoing students. The 40
minutes lecture which was titled “HEREAFTER: LESSONS I HAVE LEARNT” underscores
the impact of the educational attributes entrenched in students.

Having observed all protocols, he drove the graduating
students through memory lane using himself as a case study. He equally shared
his experiences with the students when he was in their shoes
He said “ I remember my first day at this school , that was
my first ever experience of a barrack environment where I would come to appreciate the value of the men and women of the armed forces as well
as having to relate with everybody in this same environment. It was quite
unsettling!”
“I also can never forget my first day “stomach butterflies”
as I met my classmates SS1Emerald. What a rowdy bunch we would become. I spent
three years on these grounds and I left with memories……”
He also told the outgoing student to live above their fears
and encouraged them to always be positive sharing with them some wisdom and
lessons he had come across during this span.
The cutting of the graduation cake saw important dignitaries
come together including the Military Officers, head boy and head girl. This was
beautifully done after the calling out CDSS.
Adetayo Adeola was the star of occasion as she bagged home
multiple awards including the overall best commercial student which drew a star
prize of N50,000. Also, Johnsone Eugene, Ogbonna Victoria, and Imediegwu
Tobechukwu won the awards for the best student in Science, Humanities,
Technology respectively.
The response by the outgoing Head Girl Akpan Ekemini was
delivered to all, a vote of thanks by the VP Admin Mr. D.F Salau and a closing
prayer followed swiftly by the Muslim Association.
