Theophilus Onele, a final year student, has been killed in a cult war between Vikings and Buccaneer, two deadly rival groups, in Ebonyi State University, while the renewed cult clash leaves another student critically injured.
Nonetheless, a new twist was added to the cult clash after a member of the Black Axe Confraternity allegedly shot a Vikings member, leaving him critically injured and thus bringing a third group into the fracas.
DSP Jude Madu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, while confirming the cult clashes said the state Commissioner of Police, Titus Lamorde, has ordered a house to house search of cultists.
“This search will be conducted in the institution and the whole of Abakaliki. We’ve already made radio and television announcements to this effect,” he said.
Madu therefore solicited the supply of relevant information about the cultists’ whereabouts from the public, stating that the manhunt for them would be sought from their houses, lectures halls and other outlets where they operate.
