Dele Odule speaks on Olumide Bakare’s death

Dele Odule, Nigerian film actor, producer, has voiced his view on the recent death of his colleague, another veteran Nigerian film actor, Olumide Bakare who gave up the ghost on Saturday April 22nd.

In an interview with The Nation Newspaper, Dele Odule said that Olumide passed on on his way to the hospital.

“He was declared dead on arrival at UCH Ibadan,” he said, quoting a family source.

And on the rumours of a failed surgery, Odule said “It is not true that he went through surgery again. He did undergo a surgery, but that was a long time ago and it was successful.

“It will be recalled that he was very sick at one time, but he came out of it and he has been in his home,” he added.

Dele Odule who started acting in a drama group called Oloko Theatre Group under the mentorship of Mukaila Adebisi, was born in the town of Oru Ijebu, in Ijebu North local government of Ogun State, where he had his basic and secondary school education, in 1961. He made his first appearance in 1986 before he shot into limelight after starring in the movie titled Ti Oluwa Ni Ile. Odule has since went on to star in over 200 movies
