So Sad! Man commits suicide inside a Church

The corpse of a 20-year-old man has been found hanging inside a Catholic Church on Friday.

The incident, which created fright amongst the residents of the community, occurred in the Hall of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Port Harcourt.

The deceased was a young parishioner and was identified as Kachi. He was an indigene of Imo State, was a dedicated Catholic member and also a former Mass servant of the Catholic Church.

The parishioners were in shock as a result of the incident and couldn’t imagine the reason behind the suicide. More so, the deceased was known to be a devoted Christian.

Speaking to newsmen, one of the parishioners, who identified himself as Magnus, told reporters that the deceased was well known as Fabregas in the area because of his football skills and commitment to youth activities in the church.

“Kachi until his death was about 20 years old; unmarried and a hard working young man who was loved.

“We tried to locate where he lived but we were unable to do so due to the fact that he moved to a new apartment which is unknown to us.

“As we speak, nobody has come out to say exactly why Kachi killed himself,” he said.

The late Kachi was said to be a taxi driver by some of the parishioners.

Nkechi, also a member of the Catholic Church, claimed that the deceased took his own life as a result of the fact that the owner of the taxi Kachi used to drive collected the taxi from the deceased few days ago.

“Kachi was not married and had been sleeping in the church hall.

“The taxi he drove was on hire purchase and I learnt that the owner of the vehicle took back the car; maybe because he wasn’t meeting up with condition of their agreement.

“I learnt that he took his life out of frustration caused by the seizure of the vehicle,” she said.

The church authority has not commented on the incident.

It it also worth mentioning that a number of suicide cases have been reported this year. Kindly pay attention to people around you and report suspected suicide attempt.
