Fight over non-payment for anal sex lands two homosexuals in bigger trouble

Two homosexuals, 24-year-old Promise Oluwabunkenoye and 29-year-old Kehinde Abiola, appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday where they  faced a two-count charge of same-sex having anal sex and fighting in the public‎.

Sgt. Anthonia Osayande,the Police Prosecutor,  told the court that the  offences was committed at City Centre Hotel at Ijeshatedo in Surulere about 3.00.p.m. on June 1 by the accused with others still at large.

Osayande, who alleged that while the police interrogated them, one of the accused confessed to the fact that the he was invited to Romeo and Juliet Hotel located at Ejigbo on May 28 at 5.00 a.m. for anal sex, said the accused were caught by a police patrol team fighting publicly over non-payment of money for sexual acts.

‎“He promised to pay some money if he consented to the act, but the accused refused to pay after enjoying himself.”’

‎She noted that the offences contravened Sections 54 and 136 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).

Both accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mrs Ipaye Nwachukwu, the Chief Magistrate, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum and ordered ‎that the accused should submit their passport-size photographs to the court registrar.

Nwachukwu said one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused, while the other must be a cleric or a community leader, adding that the sureties should provide evidence of tax payment to the government.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 3 for mention.
