Masquerades attacked Muslims while breaking their fast at a Central Mosque in Ikun Ekiti, a town under Moba Local Government on Tuesday, May, 30.
The attack took place at sunset around 7pm when the Muslims had gathered in the mosque to observe the Maghrib prayer after breaking their Ramadan fast.

According to reports, the masquerades were angry that the Muslims had the gut to call for prayers when they were still celebrating their Egun festival.

The masquerades attacked the worshippers with cudgels, stone and iron and inflicted injuries on them.

About five of the worshippers were said to have sustained varying degrees of injury.

The hoodlums also smashed the windscreen and destroyed two cars parked at the entrance of the mosque.

The Acting Imam of the mosque, Alh. Abdul-Rasak Abubakar-Bello, was rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, where he received stitches on his head.
