Tragedy has struck in Benin, the Edo State capital as a randy man has hacked a 38-year-old mother of three to death after he allegedly found packs of male condom inside her handbag.

It was gathered that the victim identified as Mrs Gladys Okoh was a divorcee before her sudden death.

She was stabbed to death three times in the stomach by her new lover identified as Osaremwinda Omobude Idumwonyi aged 46 years with a kitchen knife inside her aged mother’s room.


Trouble was said to have started when the randy Osaremwinda discovered the sex protective items inside his lover’s bag which infuriated him and in the process fuelled the man’s suspicion that the late Mrs Okoh was locked in a secret and sizzling romantic relationships with other men.

The ugly incident occurred at 13, Ehiyoboy Street, Off Aifuwa Street, Off Upper Sakponba road, Benin, few hours after the deceased woman left her lover’s residence where she had passed the night.

Further findings revealed that both the suspect’s residence and that of the deceased are nearby each other.

The suspect who is now cooling off inside the maximum cell of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Benin, was said to have left his residence to commit the act.

He was further alleged to have walked passed the deceased lover’s aged mother who was sitting by the door to launch the attack as her efforts to rescue her daughter who screamed in pains during the violence proved abortive.

It was however not certain if the said pack of condoms were found inside late Gladys bag while she was with her Randy lover in his room the previous night or during the day when he entered her aged mother’s rented apartment.

A source at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Benin disclosed that Osaremwinda Omobude had told the police that the late Gladys allegedly picked a kitchen knife to stab him following a hot exchange of words but he overpowered and killed her while defending himself in the process.

The knife was recovered from the suspect’s kitchen by police investigating the case during a search.

The police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said the matter is still being investigated.

It would be recalled that similar incident involving a 19-year-old boy had stabbed his 18-year-old girlfriend to death in Benin a fortnight ago.
