Laolu Akande, the senior special assistant to the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, on Media on Monday doused tension over the impending FIFA on Nigeria.
On his Twitter handle @akandeoj, Akande revealed that the Federal Government has assured FIFA at the weekend that the country will comply with the statutes of the world football body.
The tweet was sent few 11.38am just 22 minutes to the 12noon deadline to apparently calm the nerves of Nigerians.
Our correspondent learnt reliably that the FG was in constant touch with FIFA all through the weekend over the best way to resolve the crisis. The government also assured that Pinnick was recognised as the NFF boss.
FIFA on August 13 gave Nigeria a six-day ultimatum to resolve the current leadership crisis in its football or get banned.
Even though the world body is yet to come out with official statement, it is believed that the assurances of the FG have saved the situation.
