Linda Ikeji's Self Made Woman Conference: Linda takes the stage

The much talked about "Linda Ikeji's Self Made Woman Conference" that is scheduled to hold on April 22nd at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos is now on and the convener Linda Ikeji, a blogger and ex-model, is on stage to inspire the ladies.
Linda shared her inspiring story of what she went through as a struggling entrepreneur and welcomes the participants to the conference. She said, she has vowed to support as many women as she can so they can be empower.

Dr. Ola Orekunrin-Brown, one of the facilitators, was the first speaker for the day. She titled her message “Self-Made 101".

According to her, women need to know that nobody will give them anything. She said if a woman needs something she has to take it.

She demonstrated this by asking the audience of anyone of them needs N200, 000. She asked this about three times before a participant, Nkechi by name, ran to the podium and Dr. Ola gave her N200, 000. That was when the rest realized what was going on. Once again, she told the ladies, 'if you need something you have to take it."

Omotunde Lolo one of wazobia fm, also known as Adakun based on her role in Funke Akindele's Jenifer's Diary, took the stage after the Dr. Ola.

She also inspired the ladies with her own story. She said it took her about 35 years to realize that she's capable of becoming whatever she want to become.

Lolo one said she was once told by the MD of a particular television station that she was too fat and ugly to be on the television. She said the same station poached her about four years ago but can’t afford her.

She encouraged the women to believe in themselves and be persistent. According to her, she drove her first car only seven years ago and between then and now she had bought three new cars.

Kemi Adetiba took the stage after Lolo one. She advised the women not to let anyone pull them because of their gender. According to her that was one of the first things her mother reinforced into her.

She told the participants that opportunities will always come. she said there's no one that will not get an opportunity but what count is what they do with the opportunity.

She said a good work is business card to the universals that once you do a good work people will look for you.

She further advised the ladies to focus on their goals. She said one of the biggest setbacks when pushing a goal is distractions.

She said every project she has done have been applauded because she always give it her best.

“I have no manager, no personal assistant, no publicist but people always look for me. When I see an opportunity, I take it and give it my best.”

She told the ladies to surround themselves with like-minded people, people that have drive. She said there will be times they will have self-doubt but having such people around them will help them get back on track.

She said you are absolutely nothing if no one sees you and want to be like you. She added that you have a responsibility to excel every time you go out because some people are counting on your success to inspire them.
