Manchester United take the lead against Burnley at half time

Goals from Anthony Marital, 21 minutes into the game,  and captain Wayne Rooney in 39 minutes puts Manchester United ahead as they played Burnley at home.

The rapid, brilliant and clinical, Red Devils takes the lead through a sweeping, back-to-front counter-attack. Inside their own box defending a free-kick, United burst down the left and, in the space of a couple of passes, are on the edge of the Burnley box. 

Midfielder Ander Herrera squares play for Martial, who has a touch and then slides it past Tom Heaton to give Manchester United a first half lead.

Wayne Rooney doubled the lead for Manchester United after a scramble in the Burnley box.

Tom Heaton did well to get off his line to block Anthony Martial, but the ball fell to Wayne Rooney only a yard or two out, which takes the shot that creeps over the line.

The game is now in the second half and the score line still stand at  Burnley 0 Manchester United 2
