Today’s May Day celebrations at the Eagle Square, Abuja was disrupted by angry workers who came in their thousand, over the failure of the Federal Government to introduced a new minimum wage in the country.
They were also angry that neither the President Buhari nor the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, was at the event to address the workers on the grave issues of survival affecting them.
Some of workers said:
“There is no salary, there is nothing, the naira is coming down and everything in the market is going up; you cannot buy school items, you cannot buy building materials, you cannot buy food items. Everything is just going up…”
