The South Korean police was reported Wednesday, to have apprehended a 46 year old man for smuggling large quantities of methamphetamine through international mail from China.
The Nigerian whose identity is still unknown is being detained in Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency in Seoul.
Yonhap, a News Agency reported that twice last week, the Nigerian had attempted via post to smuggle 205 grams of meth worth 2 billion won (US$1.77 million).
The drug which was reported to have been hidden in women cosmetics was reportedly said by the police to be enough for about 20,000 people.
The suspect, who lives in Pyeongtaek and has a blue collar job was said to have been waiting to receive the mail from China through Cambodia.
The police had earlier been tipped off about a possible smuggling situation, which led to their impounding of the drugs at customs located at incheon International Airport.
The police are still investigating if the suspect had other culprits working with him.
It appears the Nigerian smuggling ring is very vigorous in Asia most especially in India where many of similar cases has been reported.
