| Trump Signing The Ban Of The Muslim Countries |
A new criteria for the ban on 6 Muslim countries by Donald Trump’s Administration is set to be operational by 0:00 (1.00am WAT)Friday.
One of the new criteria for the ban that was leaked, though yet to be confirmed is that visa applicants from Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Libya and Iran have to have close relatives in the United States before they will be granted visa into the country.
For someone to be regarded as a close relative he/she must fall under any of these categories; Parents, Spouse, Child, Adult Son or Daughter, Son or Daughter in law and siblings, any persons other than these categories are not regarded as close relative and would not be granted visa.
Grandparents, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law, fiancées/fiancés or other extended family members are not considered to be close relationships, according to the guidelines that were issued in a cable sent to all US embassies and consulates late on Wednesday.
The new ban although is limited to some areas ,the ban is exempted to people of the following categories; As far as business or professional links are concerned, the state department said a legitimate relationship must be "formal, documented and formed in the ordinary course rather than for the purpose of evading" the ban.
A worker who accepted an offer of employment from a company in the United States or a lecturer invited to address an audience in the United States would be exempted from the travel ban, but someone who simply made a hotel reservation would not count as someone with a bona fide relationship.
Consular officers may grant other exemptions to applicants from the six countries if they have "previously established significant contacts with the United States" or "significant business or professional obligations" in the US.
Exemptions may also be granted if the applicant is an infant, adopted child, in need of urgent medical care, if they are travelling for business with a recognized international organization or the US government, or if they are a legal resident of Canada who applies for a visa in Canada.
