lkay Gundogan insists Manchester City will prove their greatness against champions Chelsea.
Pep Guardiola’s Premier League leaders head to Stamford Bridge on Saturday looking to make a major statement in the race for the title.
City are undefeated so far this season and have blown away opponents with a torrent of goals in recent weeks.
But Antonio Conte’s side will be the sternest test of their title credentials yet having completed the double over them last season.
After scoring 16 goals in their last three league games, Gundogan believes it’s time for City to prove they are ready to dethrone Chelsea.
The German international said: “If you ask the manager there is always something to improve, but we know that we are a great team, we have great players and it’s just up to us to prove that every fourth day.
Pep Guardiola reacts to latest Man City boos
“There are a lot of games and obviously Saturday is a huge game.
“It’s also about character, going to Stamford Bridge against the champions to play our game.
“We’re going to prove that we are ready for that and hopefully it wil be a great game for us.”
Victory on Saturday would be the perfect way to sign off before the international break.
At the same point last season City saw their 100 percent start to the Premier League campaign come to a shuddering halt with defeat to Tottenham.
They never truly recovered - failing to mount a credible challenge as Chelsea ran away with the title.
Gundogan knows the importance of three points.
“It’s a huge game and it’s away so it’s even more difficult, but we feel ready,” he said. “The last games showed it and against a really strong Shakhtar Donetsk team - especially in the second half, the performance was amazing.
