Doomed to fail? Totteham ready final £30m bid for Jack Grealish

Tottenham are set to increase their bid for Jack Grealish to £30million on transfer deadline day, but Daniel Levy's signature last-minute move looks doomed to failure.

Grealish is training with Aston Villa on Thursday morning and the club are confident he will remain their player beyond 5pm.

The message to Tottenham is now clear: Grealish is not for sale. The 22-year-old is set to start against Wigan on Saturday.
Only a remarkable offer could possibly shift that stance and it is highly unlikely Spurs would get anywhere near. Time is also against any transfer, with Grealish at Bodymoor Heath in Birmingham.

Manager Steve Bruce understands the human element of the proposed move – that Grealish would like to test himself at one of the Premier League's big clubs and in the Champions League.

But new owner Nassef Sawiris calls the shots and the Egyptian billionaire cannot make a major signing due to Financial Fair Play rules, so views keeping Grealish as the major coup.

Grealish did look set for a £20m move to Spurs earlier this summer but Levy tried waiting for the opportune moment to extract best value amid Villa's cash crisis. The approach has backfired.
