The Nigeria U-20 women’s team have crashed out of the ongoing World cup in France following a 2-1 loss to Spain.
The Nigerian side were knocked out of the quarter finals by the current European Champions as two first half goals were enough to put them through into the semis.
Spain controlled the game in the early exchanges of the match as they settled quickly into the match.
On the other hand, the Falconets struggled to get themselves into the match as they played more on the defensive.
And they paid dearly for it as the Spanish side went ahead in the 13th minute after captain of the team Antana Bonmati took a shot from outside the box to make the score 1-0.
Nigeria were lucky not have gone two-goals behind as a free-kick taken by Bonamati seemed to have crossed the line after hitting the crossbar but was not given.
In the 40th minute goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made a save with her left-foot at point-blank range to keep Nigeria in the match.
