Manchester United stars arrive at Lowry Hotel as the countdown to their Friday night Premier League opener against Leicester continues
Manchester United have arrived at the Lowry Hotel as they continue to prepare for their opening Premier League game of the season against Leicester on Friday night.
Key players David de Gea, Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez were all pictured entering the plush city centre hotel, usually frequented by the Red Devils on the night before matches.
Manager Jose Mourinho will be delighted to have all his key players under one roof after a difficult pre-season campaign that has left the atmosphere around the club toxic
Mourinho, who continues to reside at the Lowry on a permanent basis, has cut a frustrated figure in recent weeks over the club's lack of business in the transfer market.
He was also angered at the options available to him during their United States tour, with a host of familiar faces recovering from the World Cup.
The United boss has called the hotel his home since arriving in 2016, and although he at one stage discussed putting down more permanent roots in the city, the Portuguese is comfortable enough in his surroundings to stay.
Paul Pogba was snapped getting out of a black Range Rover into the pouring rain. It remains to be seen what role he will play against the Foxes having only recently returned to club duties following the World Cup.
Pogba’s future at Old Trafford has been plunged into doubt in recent days after the club’s £89million record signing told team-mates that he wants to leave amid strong interest from Barcelona in the summer window.
While there is some uncertainty surrounding Pogba, United fans will be hoping to get a first glimpse of a new midfielder in Premier League action. Brazilian acquisition Fred is expected to start against Claude Puel's side with midfield duo Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic both out injured.
Anthony Martial was almost sold earlier this summer as his relationship with Mourinho deteriorated after he left their US tour to attend the birth of his child. The Frenchman looked rather downbeat as he walked into the Lowry.
Juan Mata, Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini and Eric Bailly were also snapped striding into the hotel as they look to get the new season up and running with a convincing win.
Michael Carrick was also seen making his way in. The new first-team coach is preparing for the first game of his first full Premier League season on the bench rather than the pitch.
