The Frenchman pushed the rumour mill into overdrive last week by admitting he felt the time was right to leave the La Liga outfit in pursuit of titles.
Griezmann also told French TV that the chances of him moving to United were at 'six out of 10'.
But Atletico Madrid club president Enrique Cerezo believes he will still be in the Spanish capital next season.
Speaking at the final official match at the Vicente Calderon before Atletico move to a new stadium in time for the 2017/18 campaign, Cerezo told Marca: "Griezmann will stay here. Not here at the Calderon, but at the Wanda."
The forward is United's top target this summer and they are unlikely to be put off by his release clause of £85m.
But Griezmann has denied speculation that a move has already been agreed.
"All the rumours are unfounded," he wrote on Twitter. "I'm still Colchonero. My direction will be established after discussion with my sporting advisor."
