The shocking incident was captured on CCTV.
The video begins with the ride - a typical fun fair ride with chairs hanging from chains that are rotated - in motion with riders being swung around in a circle.
It is unknown where the incident occurred or if there were any injuries.
Horrific footage taken on a mobile phone showed the girl appearing to slip from her seat on the spinning "Space Adventure" ride and being hurled through the air.
The incident occurred at Zhaohua Amusement Park in Chongqing, south west China, at about 2.20pm local time.
A video taken at the scene shows people watching and shouting but screams can soon be heard as onlookers realise something is wrong.
The young girl can then be seen coming out of her seat with her leg still attached to the ride.
