Manchester United have wasted little time in making their first signing of the summer, bringing in the Brazilian midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52million.

Having completed his medical and agreed a five-year deal with the Old Trafford club, Fred is expected to be officially unveiled as a United player at some point soon.

He is comfortable on both feet, Fred had been deployed as an attacking midfielder at times during his career before settling into a central or deeper midfield role.

The most important thing for United is that he is quick to spark attacks by carrying the ball from defence and feeding the attacking players.
