Three suspects have been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for being in possession of 40 bags of weeds suspected to be hemp.

The suspects’ names were given as Frank Osai (39), Elvis Okuse (25) and Kelvin Ogagaoghene (24).

It was learnt that the suspects were transporting the illicit weeds to Lagos from Edo State before their vehicle marked, KPP 339 XD, was intercepted on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday, August 8, 2019.

He said the suspects were picked up after the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, directed the head of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Uba Adams, to go after them

He said, “The operatives of FSARS embarked on technical-based investigation and were able to intercept the suspects’ truck. On searching the vehicle, 40 bags of weeds suspected to be marijuana were recovered, while the suspects were arrested.”

Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the suspects confessed that the weeds were meant to be delivered to a customer, identified simply as Uche, in Lagos.
