Ada Ikart, 34-year-old woman, on Tuesday was arraign before a Magistrates’ Court, in Apapa area Lagos state for allegedly beating her neighbour, Justina Oke, and cut her finger with a razor blade.
Ada, who is now standing trial on a charge of assault, lived at Baba Sule Str. Ajegunle, Apapa in Lagos.
Sgt. Olusegun Kokoye, the Police Prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offence on December 24, 2016, as the fight started due to an argument which ensued between the accused and the complainant at her residence.
Kokoye further stated that the victim reported the case to the police, adding that the accused was afterward, arrested and charged to court.
The prosecutor also said that the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 and the Section prescribes three-year jail for assault, occasioning harm.
Ada in her defense pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr M.A Etti, granted the accused bail to the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Mr Etti, who adjourned the case to April 26, stated that the sureties must be gainfully employed and must show proof of two-year tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
