A 92-year-old woman shot and killed her 72-year-old son because he wanted to put her in an assisted living facility, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Anna Mae Blessing told police she shot her 72-year-old son at a condominium in Fountain Hills, near Phoenix. Police said she put two pistols into the pockets of her robe and confronted her son in his bedroom, then shot him multiple times.
The son died of his injuries.
Blessing then turned the gun on her son's girlfriend and a struggle ensued. The girlfriend was eventually able to get both weapons away from Blessing and call police.
Blessing is facing a charge of first-degree murder, along with charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping.
