Oyegun left ‘bombs’ in APC for Osiomhole – Sen Sani
Amidst rancor rocking the ruling of All Progressive Congress, APC, Senator Shehu Sani yesterday accused the immediate past National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun of leaving behind unexploded ‘bombs’ for his successor, Adams Oshiomhole.
Speaking with journalist yesterday at the sideline of the Public Presentation of ‘Balarabe Musa: The Voice of the Masses’ in Abuja, Senator Sani said despite Osiomhole’s sterling track records, most of the issues initiated during the Oyegun led administration will in the coming weeks bring the party to it knees.
“Oyegun left behind unexploded bombs in the party which certainly may be beyond the capacity of Oshiomole to address.
“I believe that there are a lot of issues which we cannot address and I think that the best way, what we can do now is to pray for Adams to succeed but ologuru has laid grenades and bombs which they may in the next few weeks or days explode.”
Speaking further, the Senator explained in the coming weeks, the party will experience a mass exodus of members due to some bad decisions taken by the Oyegun led EXCO which all efforts by several stakeholders to resolve have hit the rocks.
On the crisis rocking the party in his state, Shehu Sani said that APC members are tired of El-Rufai’s excesses, thus in the coming weeks will move out to other parties.
“So I can say that for those of us who come from Kaduna states, if I am from let’s say Lagos state I will forever remain in APC. If I am from Brono state I will forever remain in APC and if I am from other states like Sokoto I will remain in APC but the situation in Kaduna is one which the governor of the state has turned the party into his own personal franchise.
“No congresses were held, he (El-Rufai) simply removed people who had different opinion than his own. And he persecutes people, unleashed a reign of terror and cruelty on members of the party and in Kaduna people are moving out and not coming into the APC. So far as Kaduna is concerned the governor has destroyed the very bases and the foundation of the party in that state.
“The governor of Kaduna is above the party at the national level, and we have reached a conclusion that he has no respect for the party, no respect for the leadership of the party and no respect for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. And it’s very clear to us that even president Muhammadu buhari is incapable of tackling the excesses of the governor El-Rufai.
“How can a governor call for open violence against senators and not a statement coming from the seat of power to caution such a governor? How can a governor move bulldozers to demolish the house of a fellow party member, one who has helped him to get to where he is and there was no single statement from the presidency? How can a governor use the machinery of a party to emasculate people to the point that he even tried to frame me for murder and there was no statement from the presidency to caution such a governor?
“So virtually as far as Kaduna state is concerned under Nasir El-Rufia it does not create the condition for which some of us will feel comfortable to be in that political party but we love the APC.
“Well I believe there are problems that Adams Oshiomole can solve and there are some that he cannot solve, the one he cannot solve are the ones that were laid.
“If you have illegal local government congresses, illegal ward congresses. If you illegally gather people and affirm that these are party executives and they were sworn in by the former chairman of the party. Already you have given access to illegality and illegitimacy. So for people like us it’s not possible for us to stay, we have so much respect for the person of the President and we also love the APC.
“But unfortunately, the governor of Kaduna state represent the opposite of democracy, he represents anti-thesis of progressive and also represents the conflicting views of what liberty should be so we in the APC Kaduna state, in the next few days would make a clear decision but I am going to act not because of what the APC has done to the country but the fact that the state I come from, there are issues which the national body and presidency are virtually unable to resolve.” He said
